The information in this part of the website is for parents and carers of students involved in work experience.
Placements
How are placements made? The Careers Teacher or Work Experience Co-ordinator will either match each student to a placement provided by Connexions Tyne and Wear, or the student can try and find a placement themselves.Connexions Tyne and Wear will provide the student with an information sheet containing the following information:

- where the placement is - address and telephone number
- who to report to
- details of special clothes / shoes required
- hours of work
- arrangements for lunch
Please note students leaving an employer's premises at lunchtime do so at their own risk and will not be the responsibility of the employer during that period.
In the future, this information will also be available online from this website using a simple login given to your child by their school.
School or college staff will spend some time talking about the placement, what to expect, what to do in case of illness and what to do if a problem arises.
Placements usually last for one or two weeks.
