Real Work?
Is Work Experience real work? Yes and no! It's not so much about trying out career choices, more finding out about working life and work skills in general.It will be real in that students will be treated like employees of whatever organisation they join. Of course if the job requires much training, they will be limited in what they can do in one or two weeks. But they will still learn a lot from watching and asking questions.
Student are not paid for work experience. The employer's contribution is about giving up their time to help your son or daughter.
