Most schools have work experience as part of their careers programme and this is usually during Years 10 or 11. Connexions Tyne and Wear, working with the Careers Teacher or Work Experience Co-ordinator, arranges placements for young people in schools to experience the world of work at first hand .
It is an opportunity for students to spend some time with an employer or other organisation, allowing them to experience as far as possible the hours, working conditions and regulations they may encounter when they go to work themselves.
